Introduction

 

Saana Haatharu (Little Hands) is the project which aims to promote Chinese culture and additional curriculum activities in the school. The main aim of the campaign is to promote the Chinese language, its culture and history to the students of secondary level. The program was conducted in cooperation with the Chinese volunteers from the concerned schools.

The objectives of the project are:

  • To provide abundance number of Chinese educational materials and assist students to learn Chinese language, art and history through various books and extra-curricular activities.
  • To help students learn about Chinese culture and provide essential materials required to perform different Chinese cultural programs.
  • To create a good learning environment in school through the use of new modern technology.

 

Outcome

 

Three schools namely Bal Bikash English Boarding School; Nawaratna English Boarding School and Eris Academy were provided with stationaries, Chinese traditional costumes and other teaching aids. The stationeries included calligraphy pad, notebooks and Chinese textbooks. They also received Chinese traditional costumes like han fu and kung fu dress along with other Chinese cultural dresses. In addition, projectors, speakers, electric curtains that are beneficial for teaching and learning were also provided.

The major outcomes of the campaign “Sana Haat Haru” are listed as follows:

  • The students from the related schools shall be benefited by the use of new technologies which also uplifts their learning environment.
  • Students can learn more about Chinese culture & history through the help of the provided materials.
  • Library materials such as special copies, sheets for Chinese handwritings, calligraphy pads would definitely assist students in their learning process.
