A cultural delegation from Nepal undertook a five day visit (From June 16 to 20, 2025) to Shanghai at the invitation of the Shanghai Municipality’s Department of Culture and Tourism. The delegation included representatives from government bodies, cultural institutions and the private sector and was led by Narad Mani Hartamchhali, Chancellor of the Nepal Academy of Fine Arts. Notably, the Chairman of the Nepal-China Friendship Forum (NCFF) also participated in the visit, further highlighting the growing people to people ties between the two countries.
During their stay, the delegation engaged deeply with Shanghai’s diverse cultural landscape. They toured major cultural sites such as the China Art Museum, the Shanghai History Museum and the Cheng Shifa Art Museum which houses the Shanghai Chinese Painting Academy. In addition to site visits, the group held meetings with senior officials from the Shanghai Museum to discuss avenues for future cooperation.
The delegates also took part in the Fourth Shanghai Tourism Investment Promotion Conference, where they explored potential investment opportunities and shared perspectives on sustainable tourism development.
This visit helped foster a deeper appreciation of Chinese culture, arts and history, while also laying the groundwork for future partnerships in the fields of culture and tourism. The active involvement of NCFF underscored the role of cultural diplomacy in strengthening Nepal-China relations at both institutional and grassroots levels.
